"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
"Jeremiah" Scripture Study
January – March
In January, we are studying the Book of Jeremiah. We move from the many lofty and visionary passages of Isaiah to the emotionally-laden language of Jeremiah, as he pleads for God and God’s people. Often referred to as “the weeping prophet,” Jeremiah felt deeply with God and for God, and he also felt powerfully the plight and the coming suffering of the people around him. Gentle and highly sensitive by nature, he was often overwhelmed by his sympathy for God and sympathy for God’s People. And yet his was the prophetic task of conveying to the people God’s point of view and God’s feelings – God’s sorrow, indignation, and anger about the current situation, and also His compassionate love toward His people.
Jeremiah’s extraordinary experience of being God’s prophet gives us a window into the inner life of God, into God’s perspective, and into God’s feelings about what was/is unfolding in the world. (Don’t we still need that, in these tumultuous times!) Come and join us as we prayerfully explore this Biblical book together. We’ll learn more about God’s heart, God’s perspective, and God’s desires… and ponder together what this ancient book says to us in our moment in history.
